Designing the Walls of Pickleball Cove with Artist Kamal

At Pickleball Cove, we believe the space you play in should be just as enjoyable as the game itself. From the very beginning, we knew we did not want the facility to feel sterile, overly serious, or bland like many indoor sports venues. Pickleball is social, energetic, and fun. The environment should reflect that.

That is why we partnered with mural artist Kamal to design a series of large wall murals that bring the spirit of Pickleball Cove to life.

Creating a Space That Feels Fun

Rather than going with plain white walls or simple branding, we wanted something playful and memorable. The goal was to create a space where the moment you walk in, you feel the personality of the Cove.

The mural concepts blend together a few different elements that represent the brand:

• nautical inspired visuals that nod to the “Cove” name
• bold colours that match our Pickleball Cove brand palette
• playful characters and shapes that keep the space lighthearted
• energetic lines and waves that reflect motion and rallying

One of our favorite phrases from the design is “Own The Rally.” It captures the attitude we want players to bring to the court while also keeping the environment welcoming and fun.

Concept Art to Mock Up

Before any paint touches the walls, Kamal created detailed concept illustrations showing how each wall could look. We then took those designs and placed them onto a photograph of the actual court space to create a realistic mock up.

This process helped us visualize scale, spacing, and how the artwork would wrap around the entire court environment.

Here are the concept visuals and the mock up showing how the murals will look once painted.

Seeing the designs placed directly into the space made us even more excited about the direction.

A Facility With Personality

Pickleball facilities are often very functional but visually forgettable. Our goal is different.

We want Pickleball Cove to feel like a place people remember. Somewhere you come not just to play a game, but to enjoy the atmosphere, bring friends, and have a great time.

The murals help set that tone. They create a backdrop that feels energetic, creative, and uniquely ours.

Painting Begins March 2026

The mural painting is scheduled to begin in March 2026, and we cannot wait to see Kamal bring these designs to life on the walls.

As the work progresses, we will be sharing updates so everyone can follow along as the space transforms from an empty court into the full Pickleball Cove experience.

We are incredibly excited about how this is shaping up, and we think players are going to love stepping onto a court that feels this vibrant.

More updates coming soon as we get closer to opening. 🏓🌊

Roger

Roger is the unofficial, uninvited mascot of Pickleball Cove Halifax. A self-proclaimed pirate turned pickleball menace, he swapped the high seas for the court, where yelling “ARRR!” is part of his strategy.
